Man appeals to track down dream woman after exchanging glances at traffic lights

Carer Martin Baker, 41, was driving through Grimsby on Saturday afternoon when he felt a spark between him and a mystery driver, who he hopes he can now be reunited with

It feels like a rom-com plot – you stop at the traffic lights, lock eyes with your dream woman and get swept up imagining your future

That’s the plan anyway, but it does rely on Martin Baker’s appeal for his mystery match to come forward.

The 41-year-old claims he locked eyes with Mrs Right while driving through Grimsby – and has now issued an appeal, Hull Live reports.

Martin was on his way to pick up an order before an unexpected encounter on the road left his heart skipping a beat.

Describing himself as a “hopeless romantic”, Martin who drives a bright orange truck, said there was an immediate spark and he now hopes the pair can be reunited if circumstances allow it

Martin, a carer from north Hull, noticed the bright blue BMW while approaching the traffic lights on Peaks Parkway in Grimsby

As he pulled up at a red light, he said he turned his head and saw an “attractive” woman look his way and smile.

Describing her as a “girl next door”, old-school romantic Martin now says he’d love to meet up with her, in the hope she might also feel similarly.

He said: “I would like to say to her, let’s let the lights go green for us and see what happens.”

The 41-year-old says he hasn’t always been so confident in his approach to romance.

“I would never just walk up to a girl and ask her out,” he said. The only time I have ever done it was years ago, and she became my girlfriend.

“I am not very confident around women, it’s hard to know if you’re saying the right thing.

“In this instance, I just thought why not? Why not put myself out there? There’s a beautiful woman smiling at me and I should take the chance.

“I’d hate to see this pass without trying to find her. I would regret it if I didn’t take the chance. I would say she was around early 30s. Age is just a number to me though, it’s all about the connection.

“I’m definitely all for romance. With my ex-girlfriend, I surprised her and filled a whole room with rose petals. I like doing stuff like that.”

If the woman is interested, Martin says he loves active dates that include walking and climbing but he also enjoys a romantic meal for two.
